Pioneers Shutout Luther For Third Win
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team (3-0-0) shutout Luther (0-1-1) on Tuesday night in the 2023 home opener.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (3-0-0) shutout Luther (0-1-1) on Tuesday night in the 2023 home opener.
Late in the first half, junior Isaac Petersen put the Pioneers on the board with his first goal of the season. In the 42nd minute, Petersen found the back of the net with a header following a pass from sophomore Bryan Higgs.
UW-Platteville added a pair of insurance goals in the second half, as junior Konrad Ziaja and sophomore Danny Gutzwiller each scored. Ziaja's first of the season came in the 73rd minute on a header after a cross from freshman Brady Harwood. Eight minutes later, Gutzwiller tallied his second goal of the season with junior Lucas Godon getting credit for the assist.
The Pioneers outshot the Norse 17-3 in the game and held a 6-1 advantage in shots on frame. 10 different Pioneers recorded a shot, led by three from Godon.
In goal, sophomore Seth Aiken stopped the lone shot he faced to record his second shutout of the season.
The Pioneers head on the road Thursday at 7 p.m. against MSOE.
