Pioneers Suffer One-Goal Loss to Warhawks
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team (12-4-2) wrapped up the regular season with a 3-2 loss on the road to UW-Whitewater (12-6-1) of Friday night in the Shaymus Guinn Cup at Fiskum Field in Whitewater, Wis.

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (12-4-2) wrapped up the regular season with a 3-2 loss on the road to UW-Whitewater (12-6-1) of Friday night in the Shaymus Guinn Cup at Fiskum Field in Whitewater, Wis.
Sophomore Lucas Godon got the Pioneers on the board in the 12th minute with his fourth goal of the season coming on a pass from freshman Danny Gutzwiller. Both defenses tightened for the remainder of the first half, with the Warhawks holding the slight edge in shots at 4-3 heading into the break.
UW-Whitewater answered early in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute to even the match at one goal apiece. Just two minutes later, sophomore Konrad Ziaja put the Pioneers back in front on a feed from freshman Alester Dawson. But the Warhawks responded with a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes, scoring in the 80th and 83rd minutes, to claim the 3-2 victory.
UW-Platteville finished with eight total shots, including five on target, compared to 10 shots for UW-Whitewater. Godon led the team with two shots, both resulting in shots on goal. Freshman Seth Aiken played all 90 minutes in net, stopping one of four shots faced.
The Pioneers will travel to Salisbury, Md. for the Coast-to-Coast Championships beginning on Thursday, Nov. 3.
