Pioneers Draw With Wartburg Friday Night
WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team (10-2-2) remained unbeaten in the last twelve games with a 1-1 draw on the road against Wartburg (6-1-7) on Friday night at Salzwedel Field.

WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (10-2-2) remained unbeaten in the last twelve games with a 1-1 draw on the road against Wartburg (6-1-7) on Friday night at Salzwedel Field.
Wartburg scored first, finding the net on its first shot of the game in the 18th minute to take the early advantage. UW-Platteville applied solid pressure throughout the first half, attempting 11 shots including three on frame. Freshman Sebastian Carranza evened the score at one in the 33rd minute, scoring his third goal of the season on a penalty kick.
Neither team could break the tie game in the second half, with the Pioneers outshooting the Knights 7-4 in the final 45 minutes.
Freshman Danny Gutzwiller recorded a game-high three shots, while Carranza tallied a team-leading two shots on goal. Freshman Seth Aiken played all 90 minutes in goal, recording one save.
The Pioneers return home to Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Monday evening when they host St. Olaf (9-4-0) for a 5 p.m. match.
