Pioneers Roll Past Thunder Behind Four Goals
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Four unanswered goals helped the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team defeat Wheaton 4-1 on Tuesday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Four unanswered goals helped the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team defeat Wheaton 4-1 on Tuesday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Wheaton got on the board early, scoring in the sixth minute to take the lead. UW-Platteville answered in the 18th minute, as junior Jack Gentilli blasted a shot that deflected off the Thunder defense into the back of the net.
Freshman Alester Dawson gave the Pioneers the lead in the 24th minute, scoring his third goal of the season on a rebound after a header from sophomore Lucas Godon hit the left post. UW-Platteville continued to push the advantage throughout the remainder of the first half, controlling possession and holding the Thunder without another shot.
The Pioneers scored twice in the 55th minute to extend the lead to 4-1. Gentilli netted his second goal of the game coming off a feed from sophomore Clayton Mobile at 54:03. Mobile scored his third of the season at 54:30 on a header that beat the keeper to the right side.
UW-Platteville totaled 12 shots and five on goal compared to three shots and two on goal for Wheaton. Nine different Pioneers recorded a shot, with Gentilli pacing the team with three. In goal, freshman Seth Aiken stopped one of the two shots he faced.
The Pioneers travel to Simpson on Friday afternoon for a 5 p.m. match before returning home to face Albion on Sunday at 12 p.m.
