CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team reached a 10-game unbeaten streak with Tuesday evening's 4-0 victory at Coe College.
The Pioneers' (8-2-2) 10-game streak matches the program's record for most consecutive games without a loss. The last time UW-Platteville reached the milestone was in the 2012 season. The triumph also marks the first time the Pioneers achieved three consecutive shutouts since 2017.
UW-Platteville's shutout did not stop at goals scored, but continued into shots taken. The Pioneers registered 27 shots with 13 on goal while the Kohawks (1-11-2) failed to tally one shot on the night.
Freshman Lucas Godon, assisted by Jacob Keller, was first to put the Pioneers on the board in the 17th minute. Freshman Alex Wano doubled the lead right before the half and was assisted by freshman Quincy Ott.
In the second frame, sophomore Jack Gentilli doubled the Pioneers' lead once again with two unassisted goals within a 5-minute window starting in the 50th minute.
"We are continuing to figure out ways to win," said Director of Soccer Sam Koenig. "It comes down to our team putting together the little things. Now we shift our mindset to go 1-0 on Friday."
UW-Platteville will return to action on Friday, Oct. 15 when they travel to Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa with game time set for 7:30 p.m.
