Pioneers conclude weekend with double overtime tie

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Platteville men's soccer program tied 2-2 with Dominican University in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium Sunday afternoon.
The first half left both teams with a blank slate to enter the second half 0-0. UW-Platteville got on the board first when a pass from Logan Rinderknect to Teon Fountain in order to put the Pioneers ahead 1-0 in the 60th minute. UW-Platteville's Braxton Rottinghaus then found the back of the net to put the Pioneers ahead 2-0 with less than 12 minutes left in regulation. Dominican then tied things up in a one minute window with goals from Nicolo Vitale and Jonathan Hernadez. Tied 2-2 in the 81st minute, the day's contest went into double overtime to ultimately finish with 2-2 as the final.
UW-Platteville totaled 9 shots with 7 on goal compared to Dominican's 17 shots and 10 on goal. The Pioneers held an 11-3 advantage on corner kicks as well as eight fouls to Dominican's seven.
Goalkeeper Nate Miller recorded five saves in 110:00 minutes of play.
The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 17 as they travel to Lawrence University for a start time of 7 p.m.
