Undefeated Pioneers top no. 9 Luther
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Platteville men’s soccer team defeated no. 9 Luther College 2-1 Thursday night in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Platteville men's soccer team defeated no. 9 Luther College 2-1 Thursday night in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Luther Norse got on the board first with a free kick and goal by Brunnon Colon in the 5th minute. The Pioneers followed up quickly with a free kick and goal of their own just 10 minutes later by Nick Hoklas.
The teams entered the half tied 1-1 and it was Tommy Bitter who found a pass from Brad Strobel in the 79th minute to score and give the Pioneers the lead for the first time of the night over the nationally ranked Norse.
The Pioneers defended the lead down to the last seconds of the game when a final attack by Luther ended with a Nate Miller save and the win for the Pioneers.
The head-to-head competition included 26 fouls and eight yellow cards on the night.
Luther held a 10-7 advantage on shots for the evening with four on goal for the Norse and 3 on goal for the Pioneers. Luther also had an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks over UW-Platteville.
Goalkeeper, Nate Miller, recorded seven saves on the night.
The Pioneers remain undefeated and improve to 7-0-1 overall. UW-Platteville returns to action Sunday when they travel to St. Norbert with game time set for 5 p.m.
