PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneers were unable to record a goal against Wartburg Tuesday night, but Sophomore Nate Miller and the Pioneer defense didn't allow a goal either in the 0-0 tie.
Miller recorded six saves in his sixth shutout of the season and the Pioneers outshot the Knights 18-9. UW-Platteville was able to fend off several Wartburg scoring opportunities, but the Pioneers controlled the ball much of the match. UW-Platteville dominated the second overtime with three shots on goal, but were unable score a game winner.
The 0-0 tie is a first for UW-Platteville since 2014 when they did it against none other than Wartburg College. The Pioneers haven't given up a goal to the Knights in their last three contests.
Next up the Pioneers play host to UW-Whitewater for the Shaymus Guinn Cup, and potentially a bid into the NCAA Tournament. UW-Platteville is currently ranked third in the North Region while the Warhawks are unranked. The game is set to start at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 29th at Ralph E. Davis Stadium.
