Pioneers strike another win in overtime
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers won 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday Oct. 11 against Marian University at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium before more than 400 frenzied fans for the Homecoming Yell contest.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers won 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday Oct. 11 against Marian University at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium before more than 400 frenzied fans for the Homecoming Yell contest.
The first goal wasn't scored until early in the second half by Pioneers' on a Jon Stopple penalty kick. Marian responded just four minutes later to tie it at 1-1 and held off a constant UW-Platteville attack to send the game into overtime.
In the 98th minute the Pioneers' Gabe Tovar scored on an assist by Brad Strobel just out of the goal keepers reach to end the Homecoming contest. It was only the second overtime game of the season and UW-Platteville's first overtime victory since September 5th, 2016.
The 10-2-1 Pioneers return to action on Sunday Oct. 15 at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium at 2 p.m. against third-ranked St. Thomas.
