DUBUQUE, Iowa. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team defeated University of Dubuque 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Oyen Field.
A goal from sophomore midfielder Tommy Bitter gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead in the first half. Sophomore midfielder Nick Hoklas was given the assist. A minute into the second half, Bitter collected his second goal of the game. Hoklas was given the assist again.
Dubuque was able to cut the lead in half midway through the second half until Braxton Rottinghaus scored on a penalty kick to restore the Pioneers' two-goal lead.
Dubuque was able to tack on one more goal late in the game, but it was not enough as the Pioneers held on for a 3-2 win.
Freshman Nate Miller started in goal and tallied seven saves.
The Pioneers moved to 11-6 overall while the Spartans dropped to 12-5 overall.
UW-Platteville returns home for Senior Night on Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. against the Edgewood Eagles.
