PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The men's soccer team ended their regular season winning four of their last five games, with their latest victory coming in the form of a 3-0 shutout over Carroll University on Sunday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers conclude the regular season with a 10-4-3 record, which marks their best record since 2012 when they went 15-4-2 and made the NCAA playoff tournament.
Following a big win over the previous No. 5 Warhawks of UW-Whitewater the men did not miss a beat as they continue to make a strong case for a regional playoff berth with their shutout over the Pioneers from Carroll.
Travis Mushuga began the scoring for UW-Platteville from a corner kick that bounced off a defender and into the net for the first goal of the game. Before the break Alex Bach received a pass from Caleb Sedlacek from about 18 yards out and put the Pioneers up 2-0 at the half. Following over 40 minutes of scoreless play Bach put in a final insurance goal with under 10 minutes left in the game off a Wyatt Gilson cross, 3-0.
Senior goalie Scott Sibik saved all four of the shots on goal from Carroll.
More information will be available throughout the week as far as if and when the Pioneers will play in the 2015 NCAA Division III National Tournament.
