Pioneers beat Rams 5-0 in season opener
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team shut out Cornell College 5-0 on Tuesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team shut out Cornell College 5-0 on Tuesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Junior Jon Stopple recorded two goals in the win, both in the first half. Junior Cesar Hernandez finished off the first half with a goal assisted by sophomore Joshua Munoz, moving the game to 3-0.
In the second half, sophomore Lucas Aplin and junior Alex Bach both added a goal to the list, helping finish off the game 5-0.
Senior Scott Sibik protected the goal for the Pioneers, who improved to a 1-0 overall record.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Sept. 4 at Macalester in St. Paul, Minn. at 7:30 p.m.
