PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team upset eighth-ranked Loras, 1-0 in overtime on Wednesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Just over a minute into overtime, senior Mbodje Sarr corralled a missed played ball by a Duhawk defender on top of the box, and found the back off the net at the far post.
The Duhawk offense was relentless, recording 24 shots, but UW-Platteville's Scott Sibik made big save after big save to keep the Loras scoreless.
"Teams like Loras have big offensive threats and my team relies on me to come big and it happened today," said Sibik. "The defensive line also came up big, MJ finished a great ball and the midfield held position really well, so tonight was an overall great team effort."
The game almost didn't even make it to overtime on a few occasions. Loras had an apparent goal called off because of a Duhawk foul in the 48th-minute, and then UW-Platteville's Stephen Hall made a defensive save off a great header to the far post by Loras' Jorge Simon in the 84th-minute.
Sibik had to make one final save in the overtime, finishing with 11.
The Pioneers return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 21 when they host Coe for their final home game of the regular season.
