PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- No. 19 Luther edged out the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team, 2-1 in overtime on Thursday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Luther's JW Slauson broke the scoreless game in the 74th-minute. Matheus Beato crossed the ball into the box to Slauson, and Slauson was able to put the ball away to the far post from 10 yards out.
The Pioneer offense intensified even more after going down a goal, and Jon Stopple managed to corral a loose ball in the box, scoring his first goal of the season and tying the game up at 1-1 with 10:01 left to play.
UW-Platteville had a prime opportunity to win the game with just over four minutes left in regulation, but Mbodje Sarr pushed an open shot wide after shaking off a Norse defender.
The Norse took control of the extra time right away, as Luther's Jon Gednalske headed in the game-winning goal in the 97th-minute.
The Pioneers travel to Maranatha Baptist on Saturday with the start time set for 1 p.m.
