DUBUQUE, Iowa – Another stellar defensive performance by the Pioneer men's soccer team led to a 1-0 shutout of Dubuque on Wednesday at Oyen Field.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville has now held their opponents scoreless for 290 minutes. Junior goalkeeper Scott Sibik owned the Pioneers' goal and made four saves.
"Tonight was a nice win, and we played smart defensively and didn't give UD much offensively," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "We were patient enough to get a beautiful goal at the end."
Senior Mbodje Sarr scored the game-winning goal in the 87th-minute.
"This third shutout has shown that our hard work in practice is paying off," said Fuschino.
The Pioneers return to the pitch on Sunday at Carroll University at 3 p.m.
