BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team let Illinois Wesleyan slip past the Pioneers, 2-1 in overtime on Saturday in Bloomington, Illinois.
"We played well tonight and took a well-deserved lead, but missed several opportunities to finish the game off," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "We gave up a goal with 40 seconds left in the game and our heads went down."
After a scoreless opening half, Keith Baerwald gave the Pioneers the lead in the 48th minute. Then with less than a minute to play, the Titans managed to tie the game, 1-1.
IWU's Colin Rathe scored the game-winning goal at the 91:26 mark.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Sunday when they play Benedictine at 4 p.m.
