DE PERE, Wis. – Two early scores by St. Norbert proved to be too much for University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team, as the Pioneers fell 2-0 on Sunday in De Pere, Wisconsin.
"Today was a setback after our first game, and we came out really flat," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "We dug ourselves a hole that was too much to overcome especially when we lost a player to two yellow cards and played short. We kept the pressure on the rest of the game but couldn't find the back of the net"
It only took 21 seconds for the Green Knights to get on the board, and then SNC went up two goals four minutes later when Sam Lamers scored on a cross by Nathan Angel.
Senior Mbodje Sarr received a yellow card in the 55th minute and then another in the 67th minute to force the Pioneers to play a man down. UW-Platteville were extremely aggressive in the second half, out shooting SNC 14-3 with eight of them on goal.
"We have a whole week to regroup and fix some problems," said Fuschino.
The Pioneers don't return to the pitch until Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan at 6: 30 p.m.
