CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team ended the regular season on a high note, beating Coe College, 2-1, on Thursday afternoon at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"The guys came ready to play today and were determined to finish the regular season strong," said head coach Enzo Fuschinco. "The game reflected our entire season in the fact that we dominated game, but struggle to finish the many chances we create"
The Pioneers (7-8-3) out shot Coe (5-12-1) 16-2 and had seven of them on goal. Junior Hunter McMahon scored his eighth goal of the season in the 42nd-minute and Coe responded with a goal of its own less than two minutes later for a 1-1 game at halftime.
Senior Michael Prudisch netted the game-winning goal and was assisted by junior Mbodje Sarr in the 69th-minute, 2-1.
"Now we have a few days to get ready for our conference tournament and looking to finish even stronger," said Fuschino.
The Pioneers will be the fourth-seed in the WIAC four-team tournament and will travel to the one-seed on Wednesday Nov. 6. The top-seed will be determined after UW-Whitewater and UW-Oshkosh square off on Saturday.
