PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team honored four seniors before the Pioneers' contest, but fell to sixth-ranked UW-Oshkosh, 3-1, on Sunday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers kept the high powered Titan offense at bay until the 42nd-minute when UWO's Tanner Freund chipped in his second goal of the season. The Pioneers and the Titans played pretty evenly in the first half with UWO having the slight edge on shots, 6-5.
UW-Platteville's junior Mbodje Sarr found an equalizer in the 53rd-minute when he avoided an UWO defender on a loose ball and flicked a shot over the goalkeepers head from on top of the 18-yard box. The Titans attack was relentless and found another goal in the 68th-minute and then made it a two-goal game in the 80th-minute.
The Titans produced 12 corner kick opportunities to the Pioneers one corner kick. Senior Ian Christensen made eight saves in his final home game, while classmates Jake Coxey and Cameron Weess each recorded a shot.
The Pioneers will wrap up the regular season on Thursday when they travel to Coe at 2 p.m.
