GRINNELL, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team defeated Grinnell College, 1-0, on Sunday at Grinnell, Iowa.
"The 1-0 score doesn't really reflect the amount of pressure we put on them and how well we played," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "We kept possession for the majority of it and created a number of great opportunities, but we really need to score more to avoid surprises in games we dominated."
The Pioneers recorded nine shots in the first half while the UW-Platteville defense held Grinnell shot less. Senior Cameron Weess scored the only goal of the game in the 36th-minute, assisted by junior Mbodje Sarr.
UW-Platteville ended the game out shooting Grinnell 13-2 and had a 5-0 corner kick advantage.
The Pioneers move to 6-5-2 on the season while Grinnell falls to 4-9.
UW-Platteville travels to eighth-ranked Wheaton (Ill.) on Wednesday with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
