MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team suffered another heartbreak, falling to MSOE in double-overtime, 2-1, on Wednesday at Milwaukee, Wis.
"The guys played a good game and controlled play for the much of it," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "Unfortunately we couldn't finish the chances we created and they capitalized on those very few we gave to them."
In the seventh-minute, defender Michael Prudisch controlled a bouncing ball inside the box and chipped it over the keeper's head from 10 yards out giving the Pioneers a quick 1-0 lead.
The Pioneer managed to stay ahead until the 57th-minute when MSOE's Jake Tenut blasted a goal from 40 yards out.
UW-Platteville ended regulation out shooting MSOE 16-11 and had an 5-1 edge on corner kick opportunities.
Just over a minute into the second overtime MSOE's Logan Andryk made a long cross to the far post where Mike Skow headed it in for the game-winning goal.
The Pioneers fell to 5-5-3 on the year while MSOE moved to 8-1-3.
UW-Platteville travels to Grinnell on Sunday with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
