PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Carroll University on Sunday afternoon at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers fall to 1-2-3 on the year while Carroll improves to 3-2-1.
Both teams had their chances in the first-half with UW-Platteville out shooting CU 7-6 and game scoreless at halftime.
Early in the second-half, the Pioneers' Hunter McMahon clanked one of the cross bar, and Carroll was able to clear the ball before a Pioneer rebound chance.
Then in the 64th-minute, UW-Platteville's Ian Christensen made two big saves, but the third time was the charm as CU's Andrew Jend corralled a rebound and blasted a perfect shot from 20-yards out to the top left corner giving Carroll a 1-0 lead.
In the final minutes of the game, UW-Platteville had three solid chances to score the equalizer, but the Carroll defense bent but never broke.
UW-Platteville travels to Luther on Wednesday with game time set for 7:30 p.m.
