Pioneers and Spartans Battle to a 0-0 Draw
UW-Platteville men’s soccer battled to a 0-0 double overtime draw against the University of Dubuque on Wednesday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer battled to a 0-0 double-overtime draw against the University of Dubuque on Wednesday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
"I thought we played a pretty good game, and had good possession for the most of the game while not giving UD anything offensively," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "I'm satisfied with our performance, but we need to be more creative offensively."
Pioneers out shot UD 15-6 and had a lopsided 8-1 advantage in the second-half.
UW-Platteville's defense only allowed one shot on goal, while Hunter McMahon led the Pioneers with two shots on goal.
The Pioneers and the Spartans played very physical with a total of 35 fouls called and 10 yellow cards handed out. The game became very chippy in the final 40 minutes with six yellow cards given.
The Pioneers continue their three-game home stand on Saturday when they welcome St. John's (Minn.) to Pioneer Stadium at 1 p.m.
