Eagles stun Pioneers at buzzer

Nov. 23, 2004

Seth Cooper scored at the buzzer, lifting host Edgewood College to a 61-60 come-from-behind win over UW-Platteville Tuesday.

The Eagles scored the game's final seven points to stun the 25th-ranked Pioneers.

UW-Platteville played a near-flawless first half, rolling to a 42-29 lead by shooting 55 percent from the field. The Eagles, however, held the Pioneers to eight baskets in the second period, enabling them to come back.

Brad Reitzner scored 15 points, and Mark Gossens had 14 for the Pioneers, who fell to 1-2. Charlie Averkamp led the Eagles (1-1) with 20 points.

The Pioneers play at the Mississippi River Challenge at Loras this weekend. UWP faces Dubuque Friday at 3 p.m. and the host Duhawks Saturday at 8 p.m.
