Pioneers win in exciting fashion
STEVENS POINT, WIS. - The UW-Platteville men’s basketball team defeated UW-Stevens Point by a score of 61-60. With the win the Pioneers improve to 11-6 and 4-2 in the WIAC.

STEVENS POINT, WIS. - The UW-Platteville men's basketball team defeated UW-Stevens Point by a score of 61-60. With the win the Pioneers improve to 11-6 and 4-2 in the WIAC.
The game saw three lead changes in the last 14 seconds. Senior Robert Duax who scored 15 points on 6-10 shooting from the field hit a layup with 14 seconds left in the game. After the shot Stevens Point came down and scored on a tough shot with 7 seconds left. Quentin Shields came down the left side of the court and missed a tough shot and senior Clay Gerds followed that shot up with a tip dunk with 2.2 seconds left.
Junior Carter Voelker led the Pioneers with 22 points on 8-14 shooting and 4-7 from the three-point line. Senior Clay Gerds contributed 8 points and 7 rebounds and played great individual defense all night.
The Pioneers return to action against UW-Whitewater on Wednesday night Jan. 26th at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan in Williams Fieldhouse.
