Pioneers score big but fall to Mountaineers on the road
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team finished off their trip to Texas with a 93-83 loss to the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Wednesday in Kerrville, Texas.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team finished off their trip to Texas with a 93-83 loss to the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Wednesday in Kerrville, Texas.
Freshman Robert Daux played well for the Pioneers, who fell to 6-5 on the season. Daux scored 22 points in just 22 minutes played, and also recorded two rebounds and made ten of his 11 free throws in the loss.
After a hard fought first half, the Pioneers led 38-36 at the break.
Coming out of halftime, the Pioneers kept a winning pace throughout most of the second half, leading up until the seven minute mark when the Mountaineers closed the gap.
Two three-point shots came from sophomores Matt Oestreich and Trey Sigel late in the second half as a last chance effort, but it wasn't enough and the Mountaineers took the 93-83 win.
The Pioneers return to action against UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, Jan. 6 in La Crosse, Wis. at 7:00 p.m.
