Coaches vs. Cancer Wisconsin Gala raises $1 million
The 7th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Wisconsin Gala raised a record-setting $1 million on May 3, making it the first Coaches vs. Cancer gala in the nation to hit the $1 million mark!
MADISON, Wis. -- The 7th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Wisconsin Gala raised a record-setting $1 million on May 3, making it the first Coaches vs. Cancer gala in the nation to hit the $1 million mark!
More than 700 people attended the gala at the Kohl Center in Madison, including corporate sponsors and business and philanthropic leaders. Festivities included a silent auction, elegant dinner, live auction, and special guest speaker Texas Tech Head Coach Tubby Smith, a prostate cancer survivor.
The item that raised the most money in the live auction was dinner with University of Wisconsin Football Coach Gary Andersen at Eno Vino Wine Bar and Bistro in Madison, which was sold for $31,000 – twice! This fast-growing event earned its status as the #1 Coaches vs. Cancer event in the nation last year, when it raised more than $700,000. This year it was goaled at $750,000, and it exceeded it by $250,000
Basketball coaches hosting the event were University of Wisconsin-Platteville Coach Jeff Gard, University of Wisconsin-Madison Coach Bo Ryan, whose Badgers made the Division I Final Four this year; University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Coach Rob Jeter, University of Wisconsin-Parkside Coach Luke Reigel, and Edgewood College Coach Justin Meyer.
