HOUGHTON, Mich. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team kicked off the 2022 season Thursday night in a battle against NCAA Division II opponent Michigan Tech University on Sherman Field. In a game that remained scoreless until seconds before the half, the Pioneers found themselves working out of a 16-0 deficit midway through the third quarter. First year head coach Ryan Munz's squad didn't shy away from the situation and stayed composed using it as momentum while they chipped away to close the gap 23-13 before the final whistle blew.

Platteville, Wis.- For the first time in 23 years, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s football program will have a new coach in charge. Ryan Munz was named the 16th head football coach in Pioneer history on Feb. 7, following Mike Emendorfer’s retirement. Munz is no stranger to the Pioneer football program and the fans. Munz spent the previous 15 seasons as the Pioneers’ offensive coordinator and has been with the Pioneers for 20 years as a student-athlete and coach.
