University of Wisconsin-Platteville record-breaking wide receiver Dan Arnold became the ninth player in Pioneer history to earn first team all-American honors when he secured the accolades by the American Football Coaches Association.
University of Wisconsin-Platteville record-breaking wide receiver Dan Arnold became the ninth player in Pioneer history to earn first team all-American honors when he secured the accolades by the American Football Coaches Association.
Arnold, a senior from Fargo, North Dakota, caught 65 passes for 1,176 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference offensive player of the year set a Pioneer record with his 16 receiving receptions and tied the school mark with 16 total touchdowns.
He caught multiple passes in all 11 games and reached the end zone in nine different contests. In seven of the games, Arnold scored twice. He surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark in six games, including a stretch of three straight. Arnold caught a season-high 10 passes against UW-Whitewater and a yardage-high 213 against UW-Eau Claire.
The Pioneers finished the season 8-3 and made the NCAA III playoffs for just the second time in school history.
Arnold is the ninth first team all-American and the fourth by the coaches association.
