University of Wisconsin-Platteville Football Presents Check from Cake Boss to Family Advocates of Grant County
Prior to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville football game vs. UW-Eau Claire on October 29th, the Pioneer football program hosted a Cake Boss competition to raise money for Family Advocates of Grant County.
Recently, Pioneers' head football coach Mike Emendorfer and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team presented a check for $375 to Robin Wiegel of Family Advocates of Grant County to be used in their efforts to provide safety, confidentiality and support to victims of sexual and spousal abuse.
"The UW-Platteville Football team hosted this event in conjunction with a football game as a means of increasing exposure about this serious issue and its services provided by organizations such as Family Advocates. The Pioneer Football Team is committed to expanding awareness about this issue that not only impacts us nationally but also in our own community," said Emendorfer. "We plan to continue using our games in the future years to continue building awareness and look to increase the involvement of our community in order to make each event better than its predecessor."
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cheerleaders produced the winning cake, scoring 414 out of a possible 450 points. Just behind them was the cake made by Piggly Wiggly of Platteville with 408 points.
Other businesses and organizations that donated either a cake or prize donation were the UW-Platteville Student Senate, UW-Platteville Counseling Services, UW-Platteville Prospective Student Services, UW-Platteville Catering Services and UW-Platteville Student Ambassadors as well as Livingston State Bank, Chicago's Best, Dairy Queen and Milio's Sandwiches.
