MADISON, Wis. – For the second consecutive year four Pioneers have been recognized by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) on the All-WIAC Baseball Team.
Josh Moses was named to the first team while Jonathon Kelso and Brendon Reifsteck received honorable mention for UW-Platteville. Ben Zwitter also received a nod for the sportsmanship team.
Moses earned his second All-WIAC selection after being named to honorable mention last season. The sophomore from Cedarburg, Wisconsin led the Pioneers in batting average (.370), RBI (43), hits (61), runs (40), slugging percentage (.594), doubles (20), triples (4), and home runs (3). The right fielder's 20 doubles led the WIAC and broke the UW-Platteville season record, which he set last year with 16.
A freshman from Villa Park, Illinois (Willowbrook), Kelso started all 40 games for the Pioneers in center field and led the WIAC in at bats. He finished inside the top ten in the WIAC in batting average (.341), hits (60), RBI (41), doubles (12), and stolen bases (12). Kelso's 12 stolen bases led the Pioneers and his 12 doubles, 60 hits, and 41 RBI were second on the team.
Reifsteck hit .341 on the season, tied for second on the team with Kelso, and much of his success was found during conference play. The freshman from Yorkville, Illinois led the WIAC in on base percentage (.543) during conference play and finished sixth with a .397 batting average. In 21 conference games played the third baseman had 12 RBI, 18 runs scored, and 5 doubles.
Zwitter, a senior pitcher from Franklin, Wisconsin, appeared in 43 games for the Pioneers in his career. He stepped on the mound four times early in the year before an injury kept him from pitching again until the final weekend of the season.
