Pioneers of the Week

McKade Jelinek -- Sophomore -- Marion, Iowa / Linn-Mar HS -- Throws

 

Jelinek had three season-best throws in all three events he competed in at the UW-Platteville Invitational this past weekend. In the discus he threw 51.95m (170' 5"), which was good for third place and seventh on the NCAA National List. He also tossed a career-best 16.05m (52' 8") in the shot put to finish seventh place. That mark ranks 19^th on the NCAA National List. Finally, his mark of 48.79m (160' 1") in the hammer throw was a lifetime best.

Jordan Johnson -- Junior -- Moline, Ill. / Moline HS -- 1B

Johnson put together a fantastic week at the plate, batting .571 (8-for-14) with a .625 on-base percentage and 1.214 slugging percentage. The junior was a perfect 6-for-6 in a doubleheader sweep over Dubuque last Thursday with three doubles, a home run, six RBI, and three runs scored. Against UW-River Falls on Saturday, Johnson tallied a couple of hits, including a grand slam in game two of the doubleheader to help the Pioneers win 10-0.
