Softball Plays Two Home Doubleheaders this Week
After Sunday's doubleheader against Simpson was postponed, the Pioneers softball team will play home doubleheaders against Loras on Wednesday and Buena Vista on Friday this week. Games both days will take place at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The Duhawks enter the week at 12-6 on the year after falling to Chicago and North Park over the weekend. Pitching has been a strength for Loras this season, with Ashlyn Hemm leading a staff that boasts a 2.04 ERA across the first 12 games. At the plate, Alyssa Hughes (13 RBI) and Payton Meier (11 RBI) lead the offense.
The Beavers have lost four straight to sit at 7-11 this season. Madalyn Elwood leads the team with a .339 batting average and 11 RBI, while Paige Druskis (.328) and Nicole Griggs (.325) join Elwood atop the Buena Vista lineup.
Track Hosts Outdoor Meet Against Dubuque
Outdoor season begins this Thursday as the Pioneers track and field teams host the Dubuque Dual against the University of Dubuque. Field events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with running events starting at 4 p.m. from the UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex.
Baseball Begins Conference Play
The Pioneers baseball team begin WIAC competition this weekend when they head to UW-La Crosse for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. Friday's games are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., while Saturday's will take place at noon and 3 p.m.
The Eagles are 8-3 on the year and riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping Washington (Mo.) in a three-game series over the weekend. UW-La Crosse boasts the top team batting average in the conference (.341), led by the duo of Anthony Vivian (.415) and Nate Witte (.409). Mac Born is currently second in the WIAC in RBI with 18.
