Pioneers Compete at NCAA North Region Championships
NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country teams competed at the NCAA North Region Championships on Saturday at the Carleton Campus Course in Northfield, Minnesota. The Pioneers men’s team took ninth place while the women came in 12th.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country teams competed at the NCAA North Region Championships on Saturday at the Carleton Campus Course in Northfield, Minnesota. The Pioneers men's team took ninth place while the women came in 12th.
Men's Highlights
UW-Platteville totaled 234 points, which placed them ninth overall. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 40 points, followed by UW-Whitewater (78) and St. Olaf (87).
Leading the Pioneers was junior Caden Schneider who finished 18th overall with a time of 25:01.8 in the 8,000-meter race.
Sophomore Zachary Sporaa was not far behind, taking 27th with a time of 25:09.2. Next was freshman Maxwell Voss who finished with a time of 25:40.1 which was good for 54th .
Rounding out the scorers was freshman Hayden Triebold (25:55.0) and senior Korbin Eisler (25:55.8) who finished 67th and 68th overall.
Also competing was sophomore Maxwell Sporaa who came in 73rd with a time of 26:03.5 and junior Joshua Stone who finished 77th with 26:10.4.
Women's Highlights
The Pioneers tallied 464 points for 12th place in the 6,000-meter race. UW-La Crosse won with 63 points, followed by St. Olaf (99) and Carleton (114) to round out the top three.
Senior Hannah Fliss was the top finisher for UW-Platteville, taking 56th with a time of 23:35.3.
Sophomore Megan Hageman was next with a time for 23:47.8, good for 65th place. Freshman Caitlin Wirth (24:07.6) and junior Avery Brown (24:14.8) were the next two Pioneers to finish and take 79th and 81st place.
Senior Natalie Kreier rounded out the scorers, placing 88th with a time of 24:27.1.
Also competing for the Pioneers was junior Leah Digmann who finished 104th with a time of 24:46.3 and sophomore Kendra Downing who ran 25:37.1 finishing 153rd.

The Pioneers will find out no later than 2 p.m. Sunday if any of Saturday's runners qualify to run at the NCAA National Championships next Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.
