Pioneers Run Strong At WIAC Championships
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country teams ran at the 2024 WIAC Cross Country Championships (presented by Culver’s) on Saturday afternoon from the Wisconsin River Golf Club in Stevens Point. The Pioneers men’s team took fourth in the field of eight teams, while the women placed sixth.

The Pioneers men's team took fourth in the field of eight teams, while the women placed sixth.
Men's Highlights
Junior Caden Schneider earned Second Team All-WIAC honors after placing 11th overall in the field of 90 runners. He posted a new 8k personal-best time of 24:26.2.
Sophomore Zachary Sporaa also set a new PR of 24:42.7 at the meet and took home WIAC Honorable Mention recognition after placing 16th overall. Not too far behind was freshman Hayden Treibold, who recorded a personal-best of 24:55.0 and finished 25th overall.
Rounding out the five scorers for UW-Platteville were freshman Maxwell Voss and junior Joshua Stone. Both continued the trend of setting new PRs, with Voss (36th overall) running a 25:10.8 and Stone (39th) coming in at 25:11.8.
Senior Korbin Eisler and sophomore Maxwell Sporaa wrapped up the Pioneers top seven runners, with each posting personal bests as well. Eisler placed 44th overall with a time of 25:16.1, while Sporaa was one spot behind at 25:16.7.
Women's Highlights
Senior Hannah Fliss was the women's top finisher and earned WIAC Honorable Mention honors behind a 6k PR time of 22:17.7. She placed 17th overall in the field of 89 runners.
The Pioneers next two runners finished back-to-back in junior Avery Brown (44th overall) and sophomore Megan Hageman (45th overall). Both runners ran personal bests, with Brown posting a 23:09.6 and Hageman running a 23:11.6.
Senior Natalie Kreier was the fourth UW-Platteville runner to cross the line, as she ran a PR of 23:19.9 to take 47th overall. Junior Leah Digmann wrapped up the top five scorers with a 55th-place finish and a personal-best time of 23:35.4.
Wrapping up the top seven were freshman Caitlin Wirth and sophomore Kendra Downing. Wirth finished 62nd overall with a PR time of 23:42.3, while Downing took 76th overall with a personal-best of 24:20.5.
