Lasee Wins Warhawk Open Friday
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s cross country team sent several runners to the Warhawk Open at the UW-Whitewater campus course on Friday evening, with junior Xavier Lasee winning the 8k race.
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's cross country team sent several runners to the Warhawk Open at the UW-Whitewater campus course on Friday evening, with junior Xavier Lasee winning the 8k race.
The men totaled 53 points to finish second out of the five teams at the meet, while host school UW-Whitewater won with 20 points. UW-Oshkosh rounded out the top three with 79 points.
Lasee posted a personal-best time of 26:57.7 while winning the meet. With the impressive result, Lasee secured a spot in the top 12 for UW-Platteville next week at the WIAC Championships.
Sophomore Joshua Stone was the next member of the team to finish, placing 10th overall at 28:04.4. Freshman Matt Tippel was two spots behind for 12th with a season-best mark of 28:14.6.
Freshman Phillip Dart came in 14th, running a time of 28:19.0, while junior Nolan Baumhardt was the fifth Pioneer to finish at 28:23.1 for 16th.
Freshman Xander Albano also placed inside the top 20 at the meet, posting a time of 28:31.8 for 18th.
The Pioneers will run at the 2023 WIAC Championships next Saturday, October 28 at Prescott High School in Prescott, Wisconsin. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
