Pioneers Run At Blugold Invite Friday

Men's Highlights
The Pioneers placed ninth out of 30 teams in the varsity 8k with a total of 266 points. Sophomore Caden Schneider paced the scoring runners with a 39th-place finish behind a time of 26:02.40. The other four scorers for UW-Platteville finished between 60 and 64, with freshman Zachary Sporaa leading the group at 26:21.90 for 60th. Senior Caleb Christiansen was 62nd at 26:24.00, and junior Korbin Eisler (26:24.10) and junior Jakob Eggen (26:24.70) were right behind for the next two spots.
In the men's open 8k, the Pioneers finished fifth of 16 teams with 147 points. Junior Riley Coulter was the top finisher for UW-Platteville in the race, taking 13th overall with a time of 26:58.53. Freshman Paul Pfeifer came in 32nd, running a time of 27:48.92, while junior Xavier Lasee finished 10 seconds behind (27:58.12) for 40th. The final two scorers in the open race were freshman Dylan Powell (28:03.89) and freshman Phillip Dart (28:07.81), who took 46th and 50th, respectively.
Women's Highlights
Senior Hannah Fliss was the top finisher for the Pioneers in the women's varsity 6k, crossing the line in 23:50.70 for 48th overall. Junior Natalie Kreier was next, posting a time of 23:56.40, which was good for 54th overall. A minute later, sophomore Avery Brown took 115th at 24:57.20, while freshman Kendra Downing (26:21.20) and sophomore Leah Digmann (26:27.40) were the final two scorers with 168th- and 173rd-place finishes.

After a week off, the Pioneers will compete at the Augustana Interregional Invite on Saturday, October 14. The meet begins at 11 a.m. from Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois.
