Pioneers take on Warhawk Open
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s and women's cross country teams ran at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Open on Friday, with the men’s team finishing second and the women’s team taking first of the three teams competing.
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's and women's cross country teams ran at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Open on Friday, with the men's team finishing second and the women's team taking first of the three teams competing.
Freshman Thaddeus Shetler and junior Caleb Christiansen finished first for the men's team placing 5th and 6thoverall with times of 28:21.2 and 28:22.5. Sophomores Jakob Eggen placed 10th with a time of 28:31.4, Nolan Baumhardt placed 12th at 28:41.4 and Sam Kronick took 15th at 28:55.7 to round out the final three scorers.
In the women's race, three freshmen Pioneers went one, two, three. Addison Morris finished 1st of 41 runners with a time of 25:48.9. Avery Brown at 26:19.0 and Caitlin Gorge at 26:47.6 were next across the finish line. Freshman Lydia Oakleaf finished 7th with a time of 27:39.0 and freshman Leah Digmann finished 10th with a time of 28:20.5.
Next up, the Pioneers compete at the WIAC Championships on Saturday, October 29 hosted by UW-La Crosse at the Maple Grove Venue in West Salem, Wis. The Women's Championship will start at noon with the Men's Championship to follow at 1 p.m.
