Herbrand wins Oshkosh Open
Kyle Herbrand won the UW-Oshkosh Open on Friday. He settled into fourth place early in the 8,000 meter race before picking up the pace during the middle miles. Herbrand worked his way up to the leader and overtook him in mile 4. He cruised to a 19-second lead and the win in 27:05. This was Herbrand’s first collegiate cross country win. The race featured 63 runners and five teams.

The men's team took second with 41 point, three points shy of UW-Stevens Point's 38 points. Ben Nemce finished fourth in 27:42, Noaln Wallenkamp finished sixth in 27:58, Ben Claas was 12th in 28:26, and Cory Flood ended in 22nd with a time of 29:02.
Also competing for the Pioneers were Devin Johnson (23rd, 29:08), Alec Kessel (25th, 29:22), Timothy Knobloch (27th, 29:35), Nick Hein (32nd, 29:57), Grant Munson (39th, 30:36), Lars Hay (41st, 31:05), Jarod Baker (43rd, 31:12), Nathan Taylor (47th, 31:59), Tyler Swenson (55th, 34:18), and Thomas Chelius (60th, 36:29).
Leading the women was Brenna Kautz in third place out of 38 runners. She crossed the finish in a personal best of 25:47. Kristin Sheyko followed in 11th place with a time of 27:09. A pack of three runners rounded the top-5. Haley Daniels was 26th in 30:09, Danielle Nelson 27th in 30:13, and Kara Linzmeier 28th in 30:36. Alexis Richardon finished 31st in 31:37 and Anna O'Hern 35th in 33:57.
The women finished third out of four teams. The pioneers ended with 68 points to UW-Whitewater's 48 points and UW-Stevens Point's 29 points.
