Heiden leads Pioneers with fourth place finish
The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Brissman/Lundeed Invitational hosted by Augustana on Friday. Leading the women’s team was senior captain Chelsey Heiden. Heiden finished fourth out of 370 finishers crossing the 6K finish in 22:51. Katie Wardinski crossed the finish next in 40th with a time of 23:58. Hannah Ihlenfeldt (52nd) followed close behind in 24:12. Camille Felton (78th) and Caitlyn Ifft (100th) closed out the top five in 24:54 and 25:17 respectively. The lady Pioneers finished ninth out of 24 teams.

The Pioneer men also finished ninth in a field that included 21 teams. Zach Lee and Walker Rynes led the Pioneers finishing the 8K course 41st and 42nd in 26:26 and 26:28 respectively. Freshmen Kyle Riege (64th) was the Pioneer's third finisher in 26:45. Rounding out the top five were Logan Steinhoff (66th) in 26:46 and Mitchell Frager (72nd) in 26:52. The men's race included 380 finishers.
The Pioneers will split their squad next weekend with some runners competing at UW-Eau Claire on Friday while the Pioneer's top runners compete at the Louisville Classic on Saturday.
