The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced UW-Platteville as one of team qualifiers for the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships.
UW-Platteville went into the NCAA Midwest Regional ranked 8th but surprised with a 5th place finish. This will be eighth time in school history UW-Platteville qualifies a team to nationals. UW-Platteville last qualified a team in 2010 when they earned a trophy with a fourth place finish. All eight team qualifiers have occurred since 2000 under head cross country coach Tom Antczak.
Since 2000, coach Antczak has lead his men to 16 Cross Country All-American honors, the most of any WIAC school in that time period. This year's best chance at an All-American comes in WIAC and Regional Champion Ian LaMere. LaMere, already a track 10K National Champion, will be looking for his first Cross Country National title. In Platteville history, only one Pioneer has been able to win the cross country national championships, Tyler Sigl in 2007.
The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is hosting the national championships, November 21, at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The men's race will begin at 12:30 p.m. (Men's race time has been moved to Noon due to expected inclement weather) and will be following the women's race at 11 a.m.
Spectator parking for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will not be available at the Lake Breeze Golf Club. Admission will be charged at Winneconne High School (100 Wolf Run, Winneconne, 54986) for the use of the shuttle service. Spectator shuttles are available to transport spectators for $5 round trip. Accessible shuttles will be available. The shuttle service will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.
