Kunkel and Poser named WIAC Athlete of the Week

The UW-Platteville cross country teams swept the weekly conference honors on Tuesday with Danielle Kunkel named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week and Sam Poser garnered WIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.

MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country teams swept the weekly conference honors on Tuesday with Danielle Kunkel named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week and Sam Poser garnered WIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.

Kunkel finished third out of 412 runners with a time of 22:36.13, and ran a very consistent race ranking third after the first kilometer and at the 3k mark. The Pioneers placed 19th out of 29 schools at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 28. 

Poser led the Pioneers and finished in fourth-place out of 296 competitors at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 28.  He ranked 10th after the first kilometer then 12th at the 3k mark and finished the eight-kilometer course in 26:04.2 as the Pioneers finished in fifth as a team.

Kunkel and Poser will lead their respective teams at the Blugold Invitational at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis. on Friday.
