Anthony Swimm and Danielle Kunkel Earn All-Region Honors at the 2011 NCAA Midwest Regional Meet
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's cross country team finished eighth on Saturday at the 2011 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois.
North Central won the 39-team race with four runners in the top 11, including individual champion, Matthew Perez.
Perez won the 10k race in a time of 24:41.47, 13 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. The Pioneers were led by senior Anthony Swimm, who earned all-region honors with a 16th-place finish in 25:23.7. Also for UW-Platteville was juniors Matt Borneman and Derek Fahrenkrug were 34th (25:45.7) and 46th (26:02.8), respectively.

The Pioneers were led by sophomore Danielle Kunkel, who earned all-region honors with a 12th-place finish overall. Kunkel covered the 6k course in 22:22.4 to lead UW-Platteville. Seniors Ann Tank and Steph Dorton were 54th (23:34.3) and 58th (23:38.6), respectively. Newcomers Jocelyn Orner and Lisa Kaiser were among the top freshman overall, finishing 75th (24:02.9) and 87th (24:14.9), respectively.
Christy Cazzola of UW-Oshkosh won the 6k race by 22 seconds over her nearest competitor in a time of 21:31.1. Washington University won the team title, sweeping places second through fourth and landing all five runners in the top nine.
Pioneer freshman Dan LaCroix was the fourth freshman across the line in 51st with a time of 26:12.4 and senior Scott Clark rounded out the Pioneer top five with a 58th-place finish in 28:18.6.
