Two Pioneers earn WIAC honors
UW-Platteville cross country runners Patrick Klein and Ann Tank earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.
The pair not only won the individual titles at UW-Whitewater's Warhawk Invitational, but led the Pioneers to the team championships as well.
Klein, a senior from Monroe, won the 8,000-meter race in a time of 26:29, six seconds ahead of Mathias Weve of UW-Whitewater. This was Klein’s first meet of the season, and he led the Pioneers to victory.
Tank, a junior from Dodgeville, won the Warhawk Invitational in a time of 23:54, finishing two seconds ahead of her sister, Alli. Her win helped her Pioneers to victory in the team's first intercollegiate meet of the season.
In Tuesday's regional rankings, the Pioneer men remained third in the Midwest Regional, while the women were 10th.
Coach Tom Antczak's teams compete at the Griak Invitational Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
