UW-Platteville's Nathan Petesch Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor
University of Wisconsin-Platteville senior Nathan Petesch, a member of the Pioneers' men's track and field and cross country team has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-District V First Team, it was announced Thursday.
Petesch, who recently finished 18th
at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in
the 5,000-meter run, is a recent graduate from UW-Platteville as a
double major in biology and geography.
The Bellevue, Iowa native broke the school record earlier this year
in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:22.69 at the Gina Relays
to eclipse the previous mark of 14:26.97 set in 2007 by Tyler Sigl.
Petesch won the 10,000-meter run at the WIAC Championship in a
UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex facility record time of
30:41.65.
Earlier in the year, he finished 32nd at the NCAA Division III
Cross Country Championships as the Pioneers posted a program-best
fourth-place finish.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important
reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average,
completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution,
and reached sophomore athletic eligibility. Voting is
conducted by current CoSIDA members. With being a first-team
selection, Petesch moves on to the All-American ballot, later this
month.
