Pioneers Dealt First Conference Loss Wednesday
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team (18-4, 3-1 WIAC) fell 3-0 to UW-Whitewater (16-2, 3-1 WIAC) on Wednesday night inside the Williams Fieldhouse.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team (18-4, 3-1 WIAC) fell 3-0 to UW-Whitewater (16-2, 3-1 WIAC) on Wednesday night inside the Williams Fieldhouse.
The Warhawks led by as many as six in the opening set, but the Pioneers rallied late to trail 23-22. UW-Whitewater scored the next two points to hold off the comeback attempt and claim the first set. In the second set, UW-Platteville pulled ahead with a 7-1 run and later led 23-18 but the Warhawks scored seven of the final nine points to win 27-25. UW-Whitewater completed the sweep with a 25-19 set three victory.
Junior Emma Carlson finished with a match-high 13 kills while posting a .162 hitting percentage. Senior Claudia Johnson and junior Madelyn Cooley tied for second on the team with seven kills apiece, while sophomore Kierney McDonald added six. For the match, the Pioneers totaled 34 kills and put together a .043 hitting mark.
Senior Sam Rossetti and sophomore Bri Gartner tied for the team lead with nine digs, with Carlson tallying seven as well. Rossetti recorded 27 assists to pace UW-Platteville.
The Pioneers will have the weekend off before welcoming Coe next Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
