Pioneers Drop Match To Falcons Friday
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team (11-2) fell 3-1 to Concordia Wisconsin (6-6) in its first match at the Calvin Invitational from Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Falcons scored the first five points of set one and led throughout for a 25-17 victory. UW-Platteville answered by taking the second set 25-19 behind a 15-kills performance, but Concordia Wisconsin rallied to win 25-23 and 25-22 in the final two sets to win the match 3-1.
Junior Emma Carlson paced the team with 18 kills while senior Claudia Johnson also reached double figures with 11 kills while posting a hitting percentage of .304. In the match, the Pioneers tallied 47 kills as a team on a .056 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Bri Gartner finished with a team-high 18 digs and three other Pioneers reached double digits in that category. Senior Shea Lauria, sophomore Gracie Gibbens, and Carlson all recorded 10 digs.
UW-Platteville tallied 14 block assists in the match, with sophomore Kierney McDonald recording six.
The Pioneers will play two more contests at the Calvin Invitational tomorrow starting with a 10 a.m. match against Albion. The second game will be against host school Calvin at noon.
