Pioneers Win Streak Reaches Nine With Pair Of Sweeps
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team (9-1) pushed its winning streak to nine games with a pair of sweeps over Rose-Hulman (4-4) and Clarkson (5-2) Friday night inside the Carver PE Center in Rock Island, Illinios.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team (9-1) pushed its winning streak to nine games with a pair of nuetral-site sweeps over Rose-Hulman (4-4) and Clarkson (5-2) Friday night inside the Carver PE Center in Rock Island, Illinios.
The Pioneers fell behind early in the opening set against Rose-Hulman but rallied behind an 8-2 run for a 25-21 win. That momentum carried over into set two, as UW-Platteville raced out an 11-point lead to later win 25-9. The Pioneers secured the first sweep of the day with a 25-22 set three victory after holding off a late run by the Fightin' Engineers.
Senior Claudia Johnson paced UW-Platteville with 11 kills against Rose-Hulman, while junior Emma Carlson added eight. The Pioneers finished with 40 kills and a .202 hitting percentage in the sweep, compared to just 20 kills and a .010 hitting percentage for the Fightin' Engineers.
Sophomore Bri Gartner finished with 21 digs and a team-high four service aces. Junior Shea Lauria also reached the double-digit digs threshold with 11, while senior Sam Rossetti recorded 30 assists. The Pioneers recorded 14 block assists in the match, highlighted by four from Rossetti.
Against Clarkson, runs of seven and five sent the Pioneers to a 25-15 set one victory. The Golden Knights held a slim advantage early in the second set, but a 6-1 UW-Platteville stretch later led to a 25-18 win. The Pioneers started strong in the third set using a seven-point to clinch the sweep by a 25-18 victory.
UW-Platteville's attack was balanced in game two, with Carlson tallying a team-high nine kills. Johnson and sophomore Kierney McDonald each finished with eight, while senior Camryn Johnston posted seven. For the match, the Pioneers totaled 38 kills on a .269 hitting percentage.
Gartner led the team with 14 digs and Rossetti tallied 23 assists. Sophomore Kelsey Ewert finished with a match-high five service aces.
The Pioneers continue play in Rock Island with a match against Augustana (Ill.) at 11 a.m.
