Pioneers Sweep Beloit To Continue Hot Start
BELOIT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team swept the Beloit Buccaneers on Tuesday night to improve to 5-0 in the early stages of the season. UW-Platteville collected its fourth sweep of the season, winning the three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-10, and 25-7.

The Pioneers utilized a pair of big runs to take a 20-6 advantage in the opening set. Beloit was able to get back within eight, but a pair of kills from junior Claudia Johnson and one from senior Sam Rossetti allowed UW-Platteville to close out the set.
In the second set, the Pioneers quickly scored eight straight points to hold a 9-1 lead. Johnson added a couple service aces to go along with two more runs of five and four points to clinch a 25-10 set two victory for UW-Platteville.
The trend continued in the third set, with the Pioneers taking a 10-point lead quickly. Sophomore Kylie Greenfield was impressive, posting a kill on five straight UW-Platteville points during the early portion of the set. The Pioneers wrapped up the sweep by scoring the final seven points of the set to win 25-7.
The Pioneers posted an impressive .365 hitting percentage across the three sets, including a .706 mark in the third set. 13 different Pioneers recorded a kill in the match, led by seven from Greenfield. Sophomore Emma Carlson added five, while Johnson and freshman Kierney McDonald tallied four.
Freshman Bri Gartner led the team with seven digs and tied with Greenfield and Johnson with three service aces.
The Pioneers travel to Coe on Friday, Sept. 9 for a two-day invitational. The team competes against Carroll at 5 p.m. before facing Coe at 7 p.m. on Friday evening.
