Volleyball swept by Eagles at home
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Volleyball team fell 17-25, 30-32 and 22-25 to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Friday night on Bo Ryan Court.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Volleyball team fell 17-25, 30-32 and 22-25 to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Friday night on Bo Ryan Court.
The Pioneers fall to 15-8 (2-3 WIAC) and the Eagles improve to 11-11 (1-4 WIAC).
The Eagles ran away with the first set but the Pioneers bounced back and controlled much of the second set. The Pioneers and Eagles were tied at 18-18 and traded points all the way to 30-30 before the Eagles scored the final two points of the set.
Sophomore Kaite Asche was the most efficient hitter for the Pioneers and finished with six kills and zero errors and a .429 hitting percentage. Senior Katie Jones and sophomore Hailey Youngren each led the team with seven kills and hitting percentages of .214 and .294, respectively.
Freshman Stephanie Kalinowski controlled the backcourt and tallied 18 digs in the three sets. Asche had a team high four blocks to control the net for the Pioneers. Sophomore Olivia Kudronowicz dominated behind the service line with five of the team's eight aces.
The Pioneers head to Augustana on Saturday to face Augustana at 11:30 am and Luther at 1:30 pm.
